The Production Supervisor facilitates the achievement of operational efficiencies of the production group and ancillary support functions providing inputs and outputs to the manufacturing operation.  He/she applies policy and procedure at the frontline level, enforces standard operating procedures, develops and applies best practices, and creates a culture of continuous improvement in a safe working environment.  Supervises and coordinates activities of workers engaged in operating a variety of machines while maintaining quality standards.

 

Responsibility of Work:

The Production Supervisor receives direction from the Production Manager.  He/she analyzes production demand in order to effectively develop manning schedules. He/she must be proficient in developing, managing, and communicating with hourly associates.  He/she ensures effective flow of materials in and finished goods out of assigned production areas.  Develops, recommends, and implements measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product. 

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

The Production Supervisor must be able to effectively lead and manage operations on assigned lines.  Key components include the following.  Other duties may be assigned. 

 

  • Analyzes and resolves work problems, or assists workers in solving problems.
  • Maintains time and production records to include Kronos and PTS.
  • Identifies and resolves problems in a timely manner; gathers and analyzes information skillfully; develops alternate solutions when necessary.
  • Provides training and development opportunities to assigned associates; strives to continuously build knowledge and skills; shares expertise with others.
  • Responds well to questions and seeks clarification when needed.
  • Contributes to building a positive team spirit; able to build morale and group commitments.
  • Writes clearly and communicates effectively; able to read and interpret written information and numerical data.

Supervisory Responsibility:

Directly supervises 10-15 hourly associates. 

 

Education and/or Experience:

Associates degree (A.A.) from a two-year college or technical school and 2 years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

 

Reasoning Ability:

He/she possesses the ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety situations where only limited standardization exists.  Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.  Ability to define problems, collect data, establish

facts, and draw valid conclusions.

While performing the duties of this job, the Production Supervisor is:

 

  • Regularly required to talk or hear.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to:

 

  • Moving mechanical parts
  • Noise level that is loud from machinery, horns, bottle lines and exhaust fans.
